IADT + Pointe Orlando

First of all, thank you so much to Lisa Holaday for giving me this incredible opportunity, and to be able to be a part of, and blog about this cool partnership between The International Academy of Design and Technology and Pointe Orlando.

Pointe Orlando is a beautiful and exceptional shopping and dining area. It houses world class shops, and restaurants, there is really nothing else like it in the central Florida area. IADT is an academy with locations all over the US, where students go to get their associates or bachelors degrees in design, media arts, marketing, or technology. The dedicated staff aims to help you develop your abilities and prepare you for these exciting professional arenas. IADT and Pointe Orlando have teamed up for a second time, to showcase a few lucky IADT Visual Merchandising and Fashion Design students ideas. By showcasing their creations at the entertainment and shopping complex. They've been offered a store window where they will be able to design and advertise for IADT, while also showcasing the talent of the individuals and at the same time brings even more fashion, upcoming trends, and beauty into Pointe Orlando. It's a win-win for everyone!
The idea is to give these students who are studying the art of visual merchandising and fashion design, a real world experience by working within a retail environment.
The students were given a theme and were then asked to come up with a window design draft to convey that theme, then present their ideas to the Pointe Orlando Team.

Here is the window space they are going to design!

Make sure you stay tuned for an upcoming post on the exciting unveiling of the completed window, happening on November 7th!

As we found out at the group meeting, the students went above and beyond and definitely delivered! Lisa Holaday {Commercial Leasing Specialist for Pointe Orlando}, Natalie Khosrozadeh {Marketing Coordinator for Pointe Orlando}, Susie Findell {Professional Blogger}, Maria Rexach {Community Relations Manager at IADT of Orlando}, and Chelsea McCown {Fashion Design and Merchandising Lead Faculty at IADT of Orlando}, who all listened to the students present their window designs and even offered their advice, their favorite aspects of each design and gave constructive criticism.

Some of the top favorite aspects from the students designs included, a red carpet, fun textures like chains and paper flowers, dramatic lighting, framed magazine covers, and drop-dead-gorgeous dresses!

Here are the fabulous student designers and their visual boards!
Great job ladies!!

Pointe Orlando chose the best ideas, now they will work together to come up with the window. "We hope to give IADT students an opportunity every semester to put their talents to work."

Pointe Orlando

Pointe Orlando also has top notch fashion oriented stores, including one of my favorites: Charming Charlie! I want everything in that place... especially the bangle bracelets! Ooo la la!

Alright, so you've shopped till you dropped. Now for dinner and a show, head over to the Regal Cinema Box Office. It's the perfect date night escape.
.

Here is a list of some of what's on the upper and lower levels of Pointe Orlando, including the fabulous restaurants located throughout the complex. The only problem you'll have, is deciding where to go for lunch or dinner!! It's so hard to pick just one!

If there isn't enough to do and look at already, you have to stop what you're doing and take in all the unbelievable landscaping and gardening in and around the entire property! This is something so unique to Florida, because all of the malls and shopping centers in the sunshine state are roofed and closed in, but not this one! You get to enjoy the beautiful sunshine while shopping down the palm tree lined sidewalks.

If you're ever visiting Florida, be sure to visit Pointe Orlando, located off of I-drive!

How To Make Your Phone A Piece Of Art

Art may be too strong of a word for this I admit and some of you art critics out there may not think this is classified as art like a Monet or Picasso master piece! So keep your comments to yourself. But I classify basically anything colorful and creative, a piece of art!
So here we go, the cool thing is you don't have to have an iPhone to do this DIY (yes, this is an android friendly post!), it will work for any phone and you could also do this with a tablet or maybe even a laptop (if you have the patience!).

This is a follow up from the Washi Tape Notecard Post I did a few weeks
ago. As you may of guessed, I am in loveeee with the this washi tape stuff and I keep finding new ways to use it!!!

{so this probably won't be the last post on it, sorry if you're not diggin' these posts, but that's why this is my blog and not yours:} Yes I'm sassy and happy today because I've had one too many cups of coffee... oops.

Now back to the post, all you have to do is pick out whichever tapes you fancy most, and measure or just pull a Natalie and cut them to the correct size by precisely winging it, the object is to cut the right size piece that will fit on the back of your phone, tablet, or laptop without it being just a hair too short or too long where you have to possibly start all over with a new piece of tape.

FYI, The tape won't damage or leave that annoying sticky stuff when you decide to take it off. Once you get the right length of tape strips and decide on the pattern you like, go ahead and stick it on your device!
And Voila, you're an artist!!!

If you're like me and can't go a day with a naked (aka case-less) phone, in fear of dropping it once and having the entire phone shatter and basically die right before your very eyes, then I have a solution for you!
Stick a case on it that has a clear or see through back like this one...

Now your little bundle of joy is not just cute and artsy, but also protected!
It couldn't really get any better, could it?

Here are a couple cases with clear backs:

Fall Nail Polish

 Peek-a-boo :)

Yes, I'm wearing a sweater even though its still 90 degrees!

Oh you like my messy bun? Aww thanks! Areeba inspired me! My new up-do for fall is a messy bun, it keeps your hair up and off you're neck, which is so refreshing for someone like me with a mane full of hair!
If you can't already tell by my first post about nail polish or my Pinktober, I love love love nail polish. I look at is as another accessory, like a chunky necklace or bracelet. You will, almost guaranteed, never catch me without nail polish. I just feel lost without out it on!
This quote sums it up:

And because of my love for polishes and being into trends, I only rock a few colors for fall and definitely not all the colors of the rainbow! I think there is an unstated rule somewhere out there in the world that says you can not wear certain colors during fall {cough cough yellow, orange, pink unless you're being awesome and supporting breast cancer awareness month during October, no neons, or any other bright colors} come on people, if you're going to spend the time or money doing/getting your nails done just get a nice warm color for fall, that's all I ask!! :)

I've seen dark nail polishes on many people around town and at school, a color that is not quite as daring as black but that is close to it. Either in a maroon tone or dark purple. I've been keeping my eye out for the perfect one. The other day as I was strolling through Target {which is dangerous, because that magnificent store has everything in it you could want and more} I came across the Revlon collection and in it sat a color pretty darn close to the one I've been gawking over. Its more of a dark purple tone, but I'm thrilled with it.
So this is the color I am "modeling" for you today:

Revlon's Nail Enamel
#245
"Seductive"

Its a brand new color for the collection so I'm pretty sure it will be in most Walgreens, CVS, Walmarts, etc., if you like it as much as I do.

Some other amazing polish colors for fall....

Simple & Clean White

Maroon

Neutrals

Dark Purples

Greys

Dark Greens

Do you have a favorite fall nail polish?

The Snail Mail Collective!

I've always wanted a pen pal, I have tried for years to get my cousins in England to be my pen pal and write me letters but they never got the hang of it. I'm one of those people who still LOVES to receive and send hand written letters and packages, I guess I'm kind of old fashioned that way?

This is me when I get something in the mail:

image

Well as you can imagine my cousins didn't share my enthusiasm...

So when I came across The Snail Mail Collective I was over the moon about the whole thing and could not wait to see who I got paired with. I was paired with the fabulous Areeba over at the I have a messy bun blog!

I thought the Snail Mail Collective would just be a fun way to connect with other bloggers and I would get to do that hand written letter and package I've been dying to send someone!! :)
But boy was I wrong, I found a best friend out of it! You may be thinking how can you be best friends with someone you've never met? By emailing 24/7 and stalking each other's blogs!

Areeba is going through the same crappppp at school that I've been faced with as well. It's funny how a girl, the same age as you, whose on the opposite side of the world from you, can relate to you in ways you can't even imagine.

This has also been such an interesting learning experience as well. Areeba lives in Pakistan and we have both learned so much about our very different cultures. We both hope we get to meet one day and visit each others countries. She also has a twin, Noor! I'm so jealous, I've always wanted a twin. But it's ok because I've become their honorary triplet :-) I'm beyond excited about this!!

To wrap things up:  Areeba, I am so so thankful to Melissa  for creating the Snail Mail Collective so that I could meet you! Thank you for being amazing and helping me with the drama of my daily life and for guiding me into the bloggie world, I would be a lost soul without you!

Sending you a big one of these:

xoxoxoxxo, Natalie

Now onto the goodies she sent me!!!!
Take a sec and look at the package all the goodies came in. It had like 12 stamps by the time it reached me all the way over here on the other side of the world!

Love the card!! and the Nemo on it! {not really sure why there's a nemo on my card but I'm loving the creativity Areeba!:}

These are all the fun goodies she got me!! The theme of the Snail Mail Collective was under the sea which explain the seashell, but we didn't really follow the theme too closely {sorry Melissa!}

,

A beautiful necklace {that I have already worn}, a spoon?, some of her favorite candies {they were so good}, a sea shell, some rupees, and nail accessories!

Nom nom nom :)

Lovin' this necklace!

Not sure if this was meant to be a bracelet, but I'm wearing it as one!

Thank you again for everything Areeba xoxox!
You can check out what I got her HERE!

PINKTOBER 2013

First of all, sorry for dropping off the face of the blogging earth for a week. School has hit me pretty hard this year {3 AP Classes ughhhhhhhh} and I have to give my foremost attention to my studies, above everything else unfortunately.
But I have a pretty awesome post for you today, one that I'm very proud of.
As some of you may know today, the first day of October , is the start of breast cancer awareness month, aka "Pinktober"! This is the month you're suppose to wear pink, support and honor breast cancer patients and survivors, and get your yearly mammogram!!
My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer 1 year ago, October 2012. So this month marks a big mile stone in my families life. My mom has completed her treatment, after undergoing surgeries, chemo, and radiation for the past year. She has been so strong through it all and has come out the other side even stronger and healthier.
The month of October is huge for her because she gets to give back and speak out about this disease and journey she went through. She wants to make an impact on peoples lives by getting the word out about going to getting checked and being proactive about preventing this disease. She wants people to learn from her mistake, of not getting regular mammograms.
With the chapter of battling the disease behind her, she is now moving onto a new chapter of joining the bond of Survivors, making a difference in Women's lives, and possibly even saving a life or two along the way by sharing her story and making people aware of this rampant disease.
Being the superwoman she is, it's only October 1st and she's already done 2 events surrounding Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
 You rock mom.

Today, her and her beautiful friend Lisa {who is also a Breast Cancer survivor!!} went
and signed the Pink Firetruck that travels all over the country meeting survivors and people who have been affected by breast cancer.

Thousands of people have signed the trucks to honor themselves, survivors, and the taken.

This past Saturday Mom was the Guest of Honor at Brighton's Power of Pink Campaign Breakfast!
She said a beautiful speech about her journey and challenged women to go get checked and get their yearly mammogram during breast cancer awareness month.

 So proud of her!

Moms friends Lisa, Deb, and Carey {who was taking the picture} all came to support her!

The lovely Brighton ladies who hosted the event!

How we are rocking pink this month!

Yes, mom shaved her head in the shape of a breast cancer ribbon and outlined it in pink! If that's not dedication, I don't know what is!

We challenge you to wear something pink this month and to go get your mammogram!!!
