Pinspiration: Mixing Sneakers and Style

Has anyone else seen this style lately of mixing sneakers with stylish outfits? Gone are the days where it's only socially acceptable to where sneakers with running shorts and a t-shirt.
Now go ahead and pair them with just about anything, no yoga pants required!
I love how the lady above paired her neutral sneaks with leather pants, a simple chambray top, and gorgeous statement earrings! I also love the idea of pairing them with boyfriend jeans (I mean come on, what doesn't look good with boyfriend jeans? Quite possibly nothing.)
You could even go above and beyond and pair some stylish sneakers with a dress or skirt! I think it can look really cute if paired correctly. I don't think I have the guts to do it just quite yet, I still believe dressier outfits should be paired with dressier shoes. But I think I may start experimenting with the idea of swapping out sandals for sneakers!

These stylish but comfy outfits would be great to wear while running errands, shopping, traveling, going to school, and just about anywhere else!

My favorite sneaker picks...

PBA Open House

Guess where my Mom and I are headed right now! To the Palm Beach Atlantic University open house!! I could not be more excited (or nervous!). I get to meet a PBA student and spend the day with them! I'll get to be a pretend college student for two days! :) I get to sit on a class, eat in the dining hall, go to a Chapel service, attend an academic majors fair, meet professors, tour the campus, and stay the night in a dorm room!
Phew! That was a lot.
It's going to be a crazy busy 2 days but I think it'll be so worth it.
I can't wait for my Mom to see the school and fall in love with it just like I have.
I also think the whole experience will be a great test run for my first night away at college so I'll be more prepared, and I'll know what to expect next year.
Oh, and I'll be sure to snap some pics of the beautiful campus to share with you guys!
Wish me luck!!

Tuesday Tips: If You See Someone You Know, Say Hi

This may sound super obvious, right? Well not according to my generation. I swear there's this unfortunate social norm among people my age, and this isn't just my made up theory. I've asked multiple people my age about this social norm and they all said it's so true.
The social norm is that if you are out in public and you see someone you know, who's your age, the "correct" thing you're suppose to do is walk right on past them and act like you never even saw them in the first place.
Isn't that horrible!!!
I'll be honest, I have conformed to this "rule" in the past and it did not turn out in my favor.
A couple years ago my Mom and I were at our families church and we ran into one of her old chemo nurses. She introduced me to him and then he introduced us to his family, which included his 16 year old son who I knew of from school. We chatted for a little bit and then we parted ways and went about our lives. Then, I saw him at school a few weeks later and suddenly I didn't know what to do. Am I suppose to just ignore him? But that seems so mean! Should I say hi? Or should I just smile?
We ended up passing by each other, having really awkward eye contact, and pretending like we hadn't ever seen each other before.
Of course I felt so guilty, especially since he's younger than me, but I thought I'd never seem him again and I thought ignoring him was the "right" thing to do.
WRONG.
I saw him every single day last year at school on my way to 4th period, and every single time I saw him we had super awkward eye contact followed by a whole lot of silence.
And bottom line, it's never ok to ignore someone because of some stupid "rule".
I so regret not saying hi the first time I saw him after we met! Not saying hi to someone you know when you run into them in public just creates unnecessary moments of awkwardness.
It can all be avoided if you just say hi to them or at the very least just smile!
Take it from me, if you do, you'll avoid a bunch of uncomfortable encounters.
But, at least one good thing came from my unfortunate encounter with my Mom's chemo nurses son. I learned to break free from my generations stupid social norm and from now on to say hi no matter who the person is or how well (or not well) I may know them.

Fall Must-See TV Shows

Can we talk about how amazing the lineup for fall tv is this year?!
I cannot wait to see how all of these series play out!
I'm going to explain what each of them are about and why you should run to your tv right now and turn them on!
  1. How To Get Away With Murder // This show is from the same director who brought us Scandal and Grey's Anatomy, Shonda Rimes, so right off the bat you know it's probably going to be a phenomenal show. The series is about a Law Professor named Professor Keating (Viola Davis) who picks 4 students from her College Law class to come work with her at her firm. From the first day of class, all the students are fighting (in some cases to the death) to be picked for on of those 4 spots and the students get to the point where they will do just about anything to get to the top. This show is a MUST SEE! It's my favorite show at the moment.
  2. Red Band Society // This show is a very close second favorite to HTGAWM. The series takes place in a children's hospital, so you think it'd be morbid and depressing but it's just the opposite. The show isn't sad at all, it's very modern, light, (mostly) happy, and is a true testimony to how important friendships are and how you'll make them in the most unlikely situations. The children in the show all have different life threatening illnesses but they all band together in the Red Band Society in order to overcome they're medical conditions. I would definitely gives this series a shot! I'm sure you'll fall in love with the show and the kids just like I have.
  3. Scandal // Oh boy oh boy, this show (and Olivia's outfits) never cease to amaze me. It's definitely my second favorite right now in Shondaland. Anyway, if you haven't already seen Scandal (seriously, where have you been?) it's a political thriller starring Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and focuses on her company, Olivia Pope & Associates, who help people in times of crisis. She also is apart of the White House staff and aids the President of the United States in more ways than one. If you're considering watching Scandal (well, duh) than definitely start from the beginning, you'll be so confused if you just jump into season 3 right away.
  4. Grey's Anatomy // I cannot believe I'm saying this, but I think I'm finally bored with Grey's. I got half way through this past weeks new episode and finally had to stop because I was so bored. Don't get me wrong, this is coming from a die hard Grey's fan. Which is why it's still making my must-see list! I will never stop watching that show until they cancel it all together, which I have a feeling with be in the near future. Anyway, Grey's Anatomy is an American medical drama TV show. The series focuses on the lives of surgical interns and residents as they gradually become doctors, while trying to maintain personal lives and relationships. Everyone should watch Grey's at least once in their life, it's a TV classic in my opinion.
  5. Bad Judge // First of all the main actress Kate Walsh is freaking amazing! If you haven't seen her in Private Practice (again, what is wrong with you?) go watch it! Her new series is about one of LA's toughest and most respected criminal court judges. She's may be one of the best around, but she also has a reputation of being a bit of a wild child and running an unorthodox court room. If not anything else, I think this series will be hysterical!
What shows are you looking forward to this fall?
