Tuesday Tips: Easy Stress Reliever

This may seem silly and many of you may already do this which is awesome but I had never done this until a couple days ago, after a not so great day at school, I was so frustrated and upset and needed something to just get my mind away from the grades, homework, and annoying people at school so I popped in my ear buds, pushed play, and just screamed sang my heart out (and may of even added a little dancing too). I'm tellin' ya, after 10 minutes of this I felt soooo much better and tired after that workout could focus on my homework so much more. If you've had a stressful day at the office, had a bad day, or just think it sounds fun I highly recommend trying it!

You don't have to have an ipod to do this you could also do it in your car (like me, I'm always that one person whose car is vibrating from the music) or just by using a radio and cranking it alllllll the way up :)

DIY Flower Crown

I've seen these flower crowns all over tumblr and other blogs! I just love the boho look of them, and decided I had to make one!
Who knows if i'll ever actually wear it out in public but it was a fun prop to photograph and only cost 2 bucks to make!

Materials you will need:
  • Fake or real flowers (if you want the crown to last, go with fake flowers) I bought these at Michael
  • Clear tape
  • twine or thin wire (I used twine but thin wire would work probably a bit better, because it wouldnt be as flimsy)
  • scissors

  1. First, cut all the stems off of the stick so that you have individual strands/stems of flowers (you will need at least 3) you probably want more the merrier becuase then it'll be thicker with flowers!
  2. Next, grab the twine and wrap it once around your head to measure the correct size crown you will need. Leave a little extra, you can always cut it off later.
  3. Line up one of your strands with the piece of twine you just cut.
  4. Tape the twine and first flower strand together.
  5. Keep doing this with all the strands, overlapping them with eachother and taping them all together.
Once you've use all the strands you should have 1 long thick strand of all the strands combined taped along the twine.
  6. Once again measure it around your head and then tape it so that it is a complete circle of flowers.
  7. Cut off any excess twine or strands of the flowers.

Here's a better tutorial if mine was a little too confusing!

SuNsEt cLiFfS

Since everyone seems to be all about the "Throwback Thursday" theme, yes I'm talking about those people who insist on posting baby pictures of themselves every... freakin'... Thursday on every social networking site, so I thought I'd share a not as obnoxious TBT of some breathtaking pictures from when we visited California this past summer!

These are the Sunset Cliffs located in San Diego, California!
This was probably one of the highlights of our trip, I've never seen or walked to the edge of cliffs before, so this was completely a new experience for me!

Feel free to save this and make it your phone or computer background ;)

We all had to stop and pose for a picture of course!

Ryan got a little closer to the edge than Mom wanted...

Do you see that person to left? That's my mom! That shows you how massive these cliffs are!

I didn't take this gorgeous picture but I saw it, and couldn't help but include it on this post! To give you an idea, we took pictures from all the way over towards the left

P.S Does anyone else noticed that one funny lonely looking rock in the middle there?

Tuesday Tips: Don't Take Crap From Anyone!

Now I know this is easier said than done. But once you do it you will feel a weight lift off your shoulders I promise! I wish I had taken this advice wayyy sooner. If people treat you horribly, they in no way deserve your kindness or your friendship. This may seem like a no brainer, but trust me people make this mistake all the time (I'm one of those people, but not anymore!). Stop being that puppy dog who follows around that one friend or group of friends just to gain their approval or friendship. Friends are suppose to help, love, and support you, not bring you down! You are way better than that, you are awesome, and you deserve awesome friends in return of your awesomeness. Don't let someone walk all over you. Why should you be nice to someone who treats you like crap? Treat people the way you want to be treated!

You tell those mean people to talk to the hand and move on!
Tip: If the person who treats you like crap is your boss, do not use the talk to the hand method, I recommend, as my granddad always says, just to smile and nod.

Lilly Pulitzer Binder Covers

In honor of everyone going back to school, whether to middle, high school, or college everyone needs a binder or two (or 5!) to help get them organized for the upcoming year. If you are lucky enough to have already completed all your schooling then this post could still apply to you! You could use these binder covers for reports, or at home organization, like recipes or organizing finances (fun fun!).

I honestly hate using binders, just because they become heavy heavy heavy with paper, but they are great for organization, and many of my teachers require them this year so I had to give in. So I was determined to make them look as pretty as possible and I have succeeded!!

Here's how to do it!

  1. Google Lilly Pulitzer patterns, pick out your favorites, try to pick the ones that are big (1,000 x 1,000)
  2. Copy the image
  3. Open up Word and paste the image onto a new Word document
  4. Rotate the image if needed, and expand it to cover the entire page (I couldn't get mine to fill the entire page so I left a couple inches of empty space at the bottom of the page and just cut it off when I printed it
  5. Once you get the image to fill as much of the page as you can, insert a text box, where a title is going to be, and type in what you'd like it to say (Chemistry, Recipes, etc.)
  6. For an extra bit of pizazz match the color of your title to the Lilly pattern you picked!
  7. Print, punch in holes if needed, and enjoy!!

Tuesday Tips: Who to invite

Hi everyone! This is a new segment I'm starting on my blog, its tips, advice, and observations I've come across in my little lifetime and things that come up in the future and so forth. It's coming directly from me and my point of view. It may not be a weekly thing, but I'll post a "Tuesday Tip" when something happens, in my life, that I want to share and have other people learn from the experience.
If you've watched the MTV show Girl Code, you know they have "Girl Code Rules" they share on every episode. For example: Never leave the house without lipstick.
This Tuesday Tips is kind of my own version of Girl Code Rules, but more along the lines of advice driven tips.

Always Invite Your Whole Group of Friends
Whether it's a birthday dinner, or party, or a big event, it's worth it in the long run to just send out a group invite text to your whole group of friends, instead of inviting 5 or 6 from the group and leaving out 2 people. That does nothing but hurt peoples feelings, and the last thing you want at a birthday celebration or party is drama. I'm not saying you need to invite 10 other people on your coffee date with your BFF, this tip only refers to big events {birthday celebrations and parties in general} Trust me, in the long run it'll make the event feel like less pressure and you will have zero regret about who you did and did not invite, by just inviting everyone. No one likes being left out.

Easy Peasy Lemon Bars

Ok, ok so this isn't a homemade recipe post buuutttt hey they taste homemade I promise.
I did not know how much I loved lemon bars until about... yesterday.
Mom and I nibbled on one from Tartine in Coronado back In July, and we loved the sweet and tangy lemon square, we said that we had to make these at home sometime!
So here we are a month later revisiting this delicacy and I have to say I'm hooked.

You may be thinking that this is a summer dessert and I'm breaking a law by making this after labor day {aka the close of summer} but whhattevvaaa, I am not one of those strict food season followers. I will continue to eat these babies in December while curled up by the fire place!

All you have to do is buy Betty Crocker Lemon Bar Mix and follow the directions!
One tip I have for you is to cook it NO MORE than 26 minutes, I cooked mine a little longer than that and they turned out more cakey than I would of liked :( You want your lemon bars to be moist and gooey!

ENJOY!
